Opening Doors to Neuroinclusive Housing with Stephanie, Bridge21’s Executive Director.

When I think of “opening doors” as an Occupational Therapist, I think of the many small but essential movements involved: shoulder flexion with elbow extension, wrist and finger flexion to grasp and rotate the knob, and the strength and proprioception required to pull. Only then can we step forward, one foot in front of the other, to move through the door.

There are many steps to opening a door, and Bridge21 has likewise taken countless steps to arrive at this point—ready to “open the door” to our first neuroinclusive home in Park City.

This moment will be one of the proudest of my career.

A Message from B21’s New Executive Director:
Stephanie Polukoff

Man, it feels good to make changes, to keep things shaking, to rock the boat – as they say.  My boat is rocking these days.  What a thrill it is to lead Bridge21 toward our first home construction and the first neuro-inclusive house in Park City!

Hello, I am the new executive director for Bridge21 Park City.  I am new at this title, but I  have been deeply committed to this mission for a long time.

Some sports require lots of gear.

Lacrosse, football, ice hockey to name a few.

Running, on the other hand, is simple. All you need is a pair of running shoes and you can head out your front door. There are other accessories that make the run more enjoyable, a running belt, water bottle, ear buds, etc., but it’s not like you need a helmet, pads or a mouth guard. Or a bat, stick or ball.

Bridge21 has entered an exciting phase where we are gearing up for our first house. Our gear is protective and necessary for the success of our team. It includes putting the right people into the right positions, creating thoughtful designs with our architect, drafting contracts with our legal team and finding the right mix of residents. Everything we do must chart the course for victory. Moving forward in an excellent way to support our friends with A/IDD and partnering with families and community organizations will create a strategy for success. The proper gear is essential to attain our goal of supported housing.

BACKSTAGE with Bridge21!

These snowy March days have us on the edge of our seats waiting to spot the first signs of SPRING!

We know under all this snow, daffodils are waiting for their cue to shoot up: ACTION! I am not a theatre person, my kids are not theatre people so I have no idea what exactly goes on “backstage” but I’m sure its a lot, I’m sure it’s messy, I’m sure there is a ton of scrambling going on…all the hours and hours of coordination, preparation and details come down to one moment: SHOWTIME! Since our very fun Holiday Party, Bridge21 has continued to prep backstage. We’ve looked at commercial and residential spaces, we’ve revisited our business plan and vision and though we can’t announce “SHOWTIME” yet, it’s very much “on with the show!”

Home is… how you define it!

It definitely is WHERE THE HEART IS and also a place to flourish, grow and recharge!

As 2023 comes to a close, Bridge21 wishes to thank you all for rallying alongside us. Creating a place for young adults with intellectual disabilities to call home remains a challenge but our community grows and deepens with the commitment to a shared goal where our friends and loved ones can FLOURISH in the future.

We commend the parents who have solved this issue for their adult children yet there must be a community-wide solution and network. Our loved ones deserve a broad umbrella where we can support each other, many bridges leading to meaningful endeavors, and a shared road that leads our community back HOME at the end of each day.
